MARNI MARKET AT OMOTESANDO
Marni stops off in Japan bringing the playful universe of Marni Market at Omotesando Hills, inside the space that will house the first Marni flagship store of the city later this year.
From March 20 to March 31, Marni Market will open the doors of its imaginative world inviting visitors to discover a series of unconventional furnishing accessories and design objects that convey the quintessence of the brand and its unpredictable visual language.
The set-up draws inspiration from a Japanese garden, reinterpreted in a contemporary style, presenting a sinuous space divided into three areas covered by clay, sand and gravel respectively. Big cactus and human sculptures welcome visitors in a colorful environment, accompanying them along the path. A large staircase links the first and the second area unveiling an exclusive print featuring cars and graphic patterns.
The Marni Market is animated by special products in limited edition that blend craftsmanship and originality, highlighting the brand’s spirit through peculiar constructions and innovative contemporary design.
Like a traditional city market, it hosts a mix of elements that coexist harmoniously together. Each product is the result of the work of a community of Colombian artisans that collaborate with Marni since several years.
The Market introduces a collection of Marni Basket Bags exclusively created for Omotesando: a special series of multicolor hand-woven bags featuring drawings of cars, phones, computers, video games and spaceships that merge digital and analog worlds, evoking childhood memories. This series also includes Basket Bags that pay homage to the colors of Japanese taxis, or that celebrate the ‘M’ of Marni. Each drawing is unique and creates a playful and fascinating pixelated effect.
The space also features a range of hand-woven chairs, floral coffee tables, picnic baskets, magazine racks and sculptures inspired by nature, handcrafted mixing colorful PVC with metal. Together with these products, Marni brings its iconic shopping bags in striped fabric and a new range of cotton and retro-inspired crochet wool bags and multicolored bags that evoke little hammocks.
Marni Market Omotesando is an invitation to forget rules and predefined structures interacting with the surrounding area and the elements it contains.
